Celebrate creation with sound.
Let joy resound from the ground.

Sing for the glory of the light.
Dance for the mystery of the night.

When life give you ice
skate with joy for social delight.

The air adores the earth
for the mirth of her girth.

The planet gives birth to gravity
for fun in the sun, not depravity.

Sing praises for design.
Look to see that which is benign.
Have some wine! It's fine!

When Elisha saw Naaman with his leprosy
he invited him to bath in the Jordan as his therapy.

Leprosy was medically defined as a skin disorder.
The condition was condemned by the social order.

Skin disorders resulted from lack of hygiene.
Washing could cure an 'incurable' disease by reprieve.

Medical knowledge was not as well dispersed.
Media communication has helped reduce certain kinds of curse.

Cure the sick who have resigned to the 'design' of fate.
The benign design of function with form guides your mind to that which is great.

Work must be tested to show social worth.
Pride in good production is not a malicious birth.

The unseen wire is the inexplicable force.
Card tricks are more numeric in the probability course.

Say, "You are awesome" to life.
Enemies become non-combatant with respect for rights.

Raise praise in different ways
for the rest of your days.
It will bring out the best in what you say.

Manifest destiny had its run.
Exclusion by destruction
was what it had won.

Representation by inclusion
helps us to work as one.

The system of reward has to regulate
in relation to those who reformed from the degenerate state.

The rule of law by due process
helps us to do what needs to be done for progress.
Charges against a suspect need attention
in court with a jury that looks at the smoking gun
in the body of evidence to judge with doubt
to bring truth out.

Skepticism must have clout
to see truth. Justice will shout
for correction, not cruelty in punishment
for deception. Discrimination is self-diminishment.

Don't pout about the lout with no ground.
Bless this house with sound from all around.

Sound as Music

Let the sound be music as the profound ground
for happiness in what is best in what is allowed.

We have been tested,
but not bested.

We have been tried,
but not fried.
We will not be denied.

We had been pushed into a trap
with a burden on our backs.

Spinners made themselves look like winners.
Backers became whipcrackers
turned hackers,

but they will never win.
Spin is their sin.

We will enter our house with offerings of joy.
Everyone will accomplish more as we employ
our love together to deploy.

Draw near all you who are dear.
Don't fear.

You will hear celebration
for what has been done for our nation!

Celebrate civility with joy
to employ

love as an alloy.

Build a bastion of happiness

for your memory practice.

Raise praise in different ways
for the rest of your days.
It will bring out the best in your way.

Celebrate creation with sound.
Let joy resound from the ground.

Sing for the glory of the light.
Dance for the mystery of the night.

Yea Yah!
You fill me with awe!

66 Jubilate Deo
Shout for God

1 Be joyful in God, all you lands;
sing the glory of his Name;
sing the glory of his praise.
2 Say to God, "How awesome are your deeds!
because of your great strength your enemies
cringe before you.
3 All the earth bows down before you,
sings to you, sings out your Name."
4 Come now and see the works of God,
how wonderful he is in his doing toward all people.
5 He turned the sea into dry land,
so that they went through the water on foot,
and there we rejoiced in him.
6 In his might he rules for ever;
his eyes keep watch over the nations;
let no rebel rise up against him.
7 Bless our God, you peoples;
make the voice of his praise to be heard;
8 Who holds our souls in life,
and will not allow our feet to slip.
9 For you, O God, have proved us;
you have tried us just as silver is tried.
10 You brought us into the snare;
you laid heavy burdens upon our backs.
11 You let enemies ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water;
but you brought us out into a place of refreshment.
12 I will enter your house with burnt-offerings
and will pay you my vows,
which I promised with my lips
and spoke with my mouth when I was in trouble.
13 I will offer you sacrifices of fat beasts
with the smoke of rams;
I will give you oxen and goats.
14 Come and listen, all you who fear God,
and I will tell you what he has done for me.
15 I called out to him with my mouth,
and his praise was on my tongue.
16 If I had found evil in my heart,
the Lord would not have heard me;
17 But in truth God has heard me;
he has attended to the voice of my prayer.
18 Blessed be God, who has not rejected my prayer,
nor withheld his love from me.

2 Kings 5:8

C.J. Ducasse
b.  7.7.1881, Angouleme, France
d.  9.3.1969, Providence, Rhode Island

Curt John Ducasse was a distinguished American philosopher who taught at the University of Washington and Brown University. He spent most of his professional career at the latter.

He is best known for his work in metaphysics and epistemology. His discussions about causality, the nature of mind and aesthetics are of particular interest. He greatly influenced the work of many mid- and late-twentieth-century analytic philosophers.

His magnum opus in parapsychology is his book, A Critical Examination of the Belief in a Life After Death (1961).

He was born in France in the latter part of the 19th century.

Angouleme

Angouleme is in the southwest of France.

The city is located on a plateau overlooking a meander of the Charente River. It has the nickname "balcony of the southwest."

Angoulême was a fortified town for a long time as the capital of Angoumois in the ancient regime. The term in French means "old regime" or "former regime".

It was used by revolutionary advocates for republican government to describe the monarchy as the political and social system of the Kingdom of France from the Late Middle Ages (circa 15th century) until 1789. The hereditary monarchy and the feudal system of French nobility were abolished by the French Revolution.

The notion of "absolute monarchy"  was pejoratively typified by the king's right to issue lettres de cachet. These letters reportedly denied the right to appeal. They were used in the efforts by the kings to create a centralized state.

The Kingdom of France retained its irregularities despite the organization in centralization. Authority regularly overlapped and nobles struggled to retain autonomy.

The need for centralization in this period was directly linked to the question of royal finances and the ability to wage war. The internal conflicts and dynastic crises of the 16th and 17th centuries included the Huguenot Wars between Catholics and Protestants and the Habsburg's internal family conflict.

The territorial expansion of France on top of these conflicts in the 17th century demanded great sums which needed to be raised through taxes. The land tax (taille) and the tax on salt (gabelle) are examples. Contributions of men and service from the nobility were also solicited.

Angouleme was highly coveted due to its position at the center of many roads important to communication throughout the history of France. It suffered from many sieges. The city inherited a large historical, religious and urban heritage from its tumultuous past perched on the rocky spur.  It attracts a lot of tourists.

Curt John Ducasse

Ducasse was born in Angoulême, France on July 7, 1881.

He obtained A.B. and A.M. degrees in philosophy from University of Washington. He obtained his PhD from Harvard University in 1912.

He is most notable for his work in philosophy of mind and aesthetics. His influence can be seen in the work of Roderick Chisholm and Wilfrid Sellars.

Roderick Chisholm advocated for Libertarianism or Indeterminism. He has been called the philosopher's philosopher. His argument for free will was related to the argument of survival in the belief in immortality as presented by Ducasse.

Wilfred Sellars is known as an American philosopher who was prominent in the development of critical realism. Talk of reason, epistemic justification and intention is not the same as talk of cause and effect in the sense of physical science. Dialog for reason cannot necessarily be mapped onto the explication of experimental investigation.

Ducasse used critical realism to remove psychology as the basis to investigate the paranormal. The study of ESP (Extra-Sensory Perception) and PK (Psycho-Kinesis) was limited to that which could be measured with scientific devices and observation. The contrast with generally predictable events was assumed.

He served as the president of the Eastern division of the American Philosophical Association (1939-40) and president of the Philosophy of Science Association (1958-61).

He was influenced by William James and Josiah Royce. William James is known for his radical pragmatism. Josiah Royce is the father of American idealism.

Ducasse wrote on parapsychology. He joined the American Society for Psychical Research in 1951 and served a term as vice president beginning in 1966.

His book A Critical Examination of the Belief in a Life After Death is a philosophical attempt to examine the idea of immortality. He expressed his belief in survival in it. The book was praised by parapsychologists. Criticism came from philosopher Corliss Lamont who asserted that some of the content was wishful.

When he wrote his books Nature, Mind, and Death and A Philosophical Scrutiny of Religion, he contended that we have not only a right, but not an obligation, to believe in survival and reincarnation.

He was interested in parapsychology early in his career. His views on the strength of the evidence evolved over the years. He was consistently clear that, as far as the experimental research for ESP and PK was concerned, that evidence is ‘practically conclusive.’

Ducasse would come to distinguish paranormal investigation from pyschology. He is the reason that ghostbusters go into houses with scientific devices to measure for the claim of paranormal activity.

It was Ducasse who coined the term ‘paranormal’ to divest psychical research of its psychological association. He felt that this field of research concerned paranormal phenomena as a distinct domain not to be subsumed under a standard or widely-recognized set of psychological phenomena.

Suppose that some phenomenon P is causally explicable in terms of current scientific theory, but no one has discovered what that explanation is. The explanatory limitation here is ours with respect for current theories. This state of affairs would not justify our taking P to be paranormal.

If the thing can be explained in terms of cause and effect, it is not paranormal. It reduces to a consideration of thought in observation.

What was the 'magical' force that 'psychokinetically' moved an object with no apparent cause. Wire is used often enough in video productions because the wire doesn't usually show up on the video. Large wires can be attached onto a harness to make it look like someone can fly through space.

Ducasse's view is Platonic with respect for the immortality of the soul and re-incarnation. It attempts to explain the cyclical nature of progress from polytheism to monotheism in philosophy, but holds a position against majority view monotheism.

Science writer Martin Gardner observed that Ducasse was notable for "combining nonbelief in God with a belief in the preexistence and the afterlife of human souls."

The Foundation for Morals and Legislation

The statement that the greatest happiness for the greatest number has been criticized as hypocritical. When Bentham presented the argument slavery was legal. Revolution was being pushed as a norm.

The American and French revolutions had established independent republics. Constitutional law was the 'modern innovation.' Slavery had not been outlawed. Voting rights had not been extended to all citizens old enough to serve in the military.

It can be argued that people were persuaded that happiness for some doesn't justify the imposition of misery on others with enslavement. It was this principle that eventually outlawed slavery as a trade and an institution.

Was the thought that republic was for the majority and the majority was only for the happiness of the largest social group the only driving force in hypocrisy?

Socialism countered with the implication that labor was the largest representative body in any country. Their demands should be met for the happiness of the nation in the world. Their theory was that the happiness of the largest representative body was more important than the success of the wealthy.

The 'largest representative body' largely rejected the value of education as a means to attain success with joy without depriving upward mobility for others.

Rawls from Harvard used the 'veil of ignorance' to imply that the majority is the cause of oppression for the minority. This view was hypocritical of the view that the minority interest could be an even greater cause of social dissonance.

Republican government is such that the majority has to represent what is right in law. The minority has to agree with that which is right as well. Otherwise, minority groups views are collectively presented to make the majority view look like the cause of unhappiness for the country even when the collective view for liberal expenditure is worse.

The difficulty with the theory that the greatest number of people is always the determinant cause in making decisions is that government has to limit its own power in control with legislation.

Law is written to persuade people to act in a way that will not damage the property or health of others. Defense from damage is a significant qualifier.

Liberalism is the cause of liberal expenditure. Liberal expenditure reduces the economic support for rights for citizens.

Democrats have a liberal platform that seeks to increase expenditure by the broadening of appeal to diverse representation. It's a chaotic position.

Is the majority always wrong? Doesn't the statement that the 'majority is always wrong' beg the question as to what is wrong about the majority of minorities?

Public policy has to resolve itself to present the possibility that legal norms have to be guided by what is right with the moral position for law against doing damage. Defense from attack has to be against a clear and present danger.

There is a particular qualification with respect for defense against lethal and imminent deadly force. Deadly force can only be used against the physical threat of lethal attack.

Training has to have the intent to promote self-regulation with the use of military force in national alliance or international cooperation.

Search and Rescue operations condition participants to work together in adverse circumstances to rescue someone or a number of people who are in distress.

SAR is fundamentally beneficial to training that promotes teamwork for a benign benefit in well-regulated operations.

19 Cœli enarrant

1 The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the firmament shows his handiwork.
2 One day tells its tale to another,
and one night imparts knowledge to another.
3 Although they have no words or language,
and their voices are not heard,
4 Their sound has gone out into all lands,
and their message to the ends of the world.
5 In the deep has he set a pavilion for the sun;
it comes forth like a bridegroom out of his chamber;
it rejoices like a champion to run its course.
6 It goes forth from the uttermost edge of the heavens
and runs about to the end of it again;
nothing is hidden from its burning heat.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect
and revives the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure
and gives wisdom to the innocent.
8 The statutes of the Lord are just
and rejoice the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is clear
and gives light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the Lord is clean
and endures for ever;
the judgments of the Lord are true
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
more than much fine gold,
sweeter far than honey,
than honey in the comb.
11 By them also is your servant enlightened,
and in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can tell how often he offends?
cleanse me from my secret faults.
13 Above all, keep your servant from presumptuous sins;
let them not get dominion over me;
then shall I be whole and sound,
and innocent of a great offense.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

Why should I applaud?
How do I know you're not a fraud?

What if you were to draw a gun?
That wouldn't be very much fun.

If you were to shoot me in the head
I would very likely end up dead.

That would not be good for you my friend.
Your freedom would begin to end.

Your candor would start to sour
as you began to lose your power.

Everything would become a show
that your big butt refused to know.

Your optimism would be misguided
to undo consequence that the grave decided.

Speech transfers thought into verbal expression.
What happens to impulse control after violent aggression?

You don't want to find out.
It won't be a test that has legal clout.

I'm not saying you don't have the right to own a weapon as a possession.
The possession is for defense, not illegal progression.

You have the right to stand your ground.
The protection of self from lethal attack is profound.

Your point of view is a place in space.
Defense is for spirit not for waste.

A monad is a point with no dimension, but time.
It has no extension or shape. It is totally sublime.

The point forms the basis for extension with shape.
Each form is a unit with uncounted points in the ghost for the frame.

Simple existence is formed with an amount.
The compound is mixed with parts too small to count.

Quality is needed to determine existence.
Difference contrasts the perception of the consistent.

When change happens there is a pause
that shows the cognition of cause.

When political unity doesn't allow for existence to change,
there is no recognition of difference in how things are arranged.

This is called oppression. It forms ground for contention.
More trouble is found in rebellion as a regression
or progression to an even greater state of oppression.

When difference is the only thing that is promoted
unity is not recognized as a value to be connoted.

Soul is the projection of monad into your body and mind.
The integration of energy with substance is what your life defines.

Self is conditioned by life as we know it.
The earth shapes environment in a way that shows it.

Evolution allows for manageable change
so the political and physical can adapt within range.

That which is human acknowledges individual being
as a part of the whole that contributes to seeing
and retrieving knowledge from our believing
for what salvation is achieving.

You are the projection of soul
as a part of the whole.

A train of thought uses words to convey an impression.
Speech is a way to express internal procession.

The first use of names served as notes for remembrance.
It was a step beyond the acceptance of essence.

The same words signify what is thought, felt or believed
with respect for desire, fear, passion or disease.

Rhetoric uses inequality to express a symbol of speech.
The sign is extended for listeners to reach.

Language predicts the future in the creation of art.
The market for commerce gives incentive to start.

Science is knowledge for the instruction of self.
Words make will or purpose known with the intention to help.
Speech is for insight or delight in ourselves
in the way that we play for pleasure as well.

There are two kinds of regulated thought.
Cause defines purpose in that which is sought.
Probability is imagined by what time has wrought.

Leibniz was born before the Peace of Westphalia.
The peace was a contract that resolved religious regalia.
The nation state was allowed independence from empire.
The monarch would choose the particular hell fire.

Protestant or Catholic was left to the choice
of the principle leader as the popular voice.

Sweden was active as a Protestant power.
The Thirty Years War contested the Roman Habsburg hour.
France was Catholic, but Habsburg sour.

The Eighty Years War was for Dutch independence
from Spain as the sovereign reach for ascendance.

Leibniz approached the problem of evil
as something that faith could transcend with the primevally legal.

He developed the monad established by Euclid
in a way that Democritus would not find putrid.

The relation of the unseeably small to the infinitely large
was promoted as the range for the political charge.

We live with certainty
between immeasurable uncertainties.

Mind is a spear for morality with law.
Scripture provides incentive to anticipate the correction of flaw.
Faith is the attitude to produce products with awe.

Voltaire lampooned Leibniz with satirical expression
in a way that contributed to political digression,
but his artistry found a place in irreverent contention.

One criticism takes form in the perpetual "underachiever.”
The existence of evil counters the power of the omnipotent believer
that talks himself out of all work as an achiever.

Another is found in the "holiness” of the creator.
When nature destroys, it is read as power by the dictator.
People are expected to see the Creator as the instigator
to the detriment of the 'holiness' in the communication of the imitator.

The law against murder is for the right to life.
Defense is against the lethal and imminent threat by a gun or knife.

There is the right to stand your ground.
This is for legislated law to expound.
A duty to retreat exists when it is the better option found.
This allows the assailed to withdraw
to give law enforcement a call.

Prudence is presumption of the future
based on the judgment of what part of the past to suture.

History reviews by what courses and degrees
the state came to civil war in certainty
with the sight of ruin contrived for any other state
from an experience that was defined as fate
but wan't so necessary to define as great.

There is no other act of mind remembered
that can reach beyond the sense dismembered
without study and industry tendered.

Speech developed by the course of instruction
may be improved to lift humans above destruction.
That which is imagined is finite with respect for the vocation of station.
Infinite magnitude lies beyond the imagination,
but not our calculation.

The name God is not used to define divine being.
Deity cannot be controlled by a way of seeing.

Fluxion can be calculated to improve conceptual measure.
Calculus helps to see the pleasure of the immeasured treasure
of existence between the uncertainties in leisure.

No thing can be conceived outside of space.
It has to be seen as residing in some place
with a size and shape that can be divided into parts
by a measure that describes magnitude as an art.

Quality describes essential form
so a listener can imagine the object as a norm.

There are those who would deceive by description.
The con artist depends upon the generation of fiction.

Words are used as the tool for trolls
as they seek to counterfeit or steal your 'gold.'

The invention of printing developed the genius of letters.
Language evolved for the better.

Red leader. Red leader. This is heroic purple. Over.
'He who excels' brought letters to the grey people for Homer.

Agenor was king of Phoenicia.
His son Cadmus took letters to Keisha
in Greece  by sea well before Caesar.

Letters formed the alphabet so people who never met
could say something in writing with meaning they could get.

Transcription was labor. It gained a transcriber favor.
Reproduction and distribution generated consensus to savor.
Market potential was grown
by memory and the conjunction shown.

The world in time became the reach for mind.
The technology was quite a find.
The most profitable invention was speech.
Written or verbal it gave thought extension to reach
with names and connections to teach
mutual utility for each.

The Word was the author of the reach for speech
to society with contracts and peace
with more organization than bears, wolves and geese.

Adam was the man that gave names to each.
Eve was the one who shared the reach.
Scripture was something profound to read.
Language gained names as the readership had need.

Perpetual ecstasy waited for the paper
to fall to the floor as easily as sleeves slip down the arms of the heron player
with vapor beholding the eye as the throne of the pupil's pupil as the shaper of layers
as destitute as ashes from charcoal in the carbon of the grilled favor for labor.

A loud boom shook the room with the shake that loud sound makes
when impacted by the force of pressure moving outward to take
the chimney with the wind across the lake that makes fish feel like saints
that don't faint when the force crosses across  the water saving the shake of fish mates.

An empty cup of rest with relaxation sits as if an Eagle has landed
upon the magic carpet beneath where my now housed homeless feet stand
before the plasma screen image lived as livid with desert sedition that can
linger like the Nile where the hawk head of Horus wears the man as a plan.

The immediacy of your ghost-presence startles me.
I see again how one impossibly hot and stifling early afternoon in July can be
a place near the far end of the lake where the shade hides our heads from the heat
and our bikes from the beat of the street as we cool our bones in the watery retreat.

Tell me you stones. Speak you past particles of a towering palace!
Say a word as the oracle for that beneath our feet in the street as the maker of callus
that forms the chalice of toe for the now forgotten groan from the base of body balance.

Cool clean water is the spirit of eternal Rome.
Who will whisper to me from what window in what home?

Will I see some sweet thing who'll kindle me now to quicken my heart?
I'm gazing at a church, palace, ruin, columns and a stone street for a drawn cart.
I wonder as a wanderer looking to make sense of the journey from the start.

Soon it will happen. There will be one vast temple of love to receive the initiate.
Though you’re a whole world, the world isn't whole without the ability to hydrate.

When gods and goddesses loved in heroic ages, desire followed a look.
Joy followed desire. Talk came as from a book. Joy flowed like a brook.

I was stolen from distant shores and beaten by misfortune.
“What did I do to be cast into chains by the god of fortune?"

Am I not part of his creation? Is my sin the color of my skin?
Am I not also created for happiness? I loved the one I could win.

She had all my tenderness. Her smile made my heart beat true.
I was to become a father to the fruit of our love's swoon.

Dear child, do you still live to console your mother
or did you perish without knowing touch from another?

My humble prayers are offered in church for you.
I pray that my love will guide your spirit to live true.

I saw you near the altar by chance.
Your beloved face turned to meet my glance.

Enchantment held fast my gaze in wonder.
Your smile spoke softly, like a quiet slumber.

I asked for words with immortal charm,
"Lull to a timely rest the works of war and harm.
Let them stop forever that children may grow to learn
the power that morality for public peace will earn.
Let each body be filled with energy from above.
Pour from those lips soft syllables distilled with love.

"Grant peace to our people, glorious lady,

in the heat of this season as troubled as a hungry baby.
Let the illustrious branch from this house of labor
not neglect the civic cause of our Savior."

Cuckoo Call
Video Recording

The cuckoo had slipped her egg in the warbler's nest.
The warbler is raising the baby along with the rest.
The sunflower has risen to face the light.
The lily peeks above the deep grass along the side.
The Strawberry moon is due.
The berries looked close to ripe at the end of June.

Bonsai sculpting came from penzai in China.

The stately pine tree did not grow free.
It was shaped for art to increase beauty.

Himeji Castle

Agnostic winds blow in July.
I don't know from where. I don't know why.
The heat is hot.
The wind is not,
but it doesn't blow as often as it ought.
Shade is favored for movement managed.
Relief from sun is a great advantage.

The Himeji Castle appears in sight
to be a palace of great delight.
The sakura trees surround the base.
The castle structure reaches up in space.

The labyrinthian approach from the Hishi Gate
leads along walled paths that run straight
through multiple gates and baileys to create
delay in access to the attacking force of gait.

The great rock walls are on the hill.
The white heron walls rise higher still.
A smaller size floor reaches one flight higher.
The A frame roof curves like a flame of fire.
The spirit of the sky inquires, "What height does your reach desire?"
"Would you harvest gold from the blue in the curve of sky?
You'll be surprised at what you can do when you believe and try."

The main keep is a wooden structure.
It has six floors filled with the charm of Japanese culture.

She stood in the entrance to the lower floor.
We climbed a series of steep narrow stairs without doors.
They were as steep as the stairs in a ship off the shore.
The stairs were steady but the pitch required the use of handrails for sure.
Each room on the next floor was smaller than the one before.

We stood on the top floor in the shrine
and looked out in the direction of each side.
The maze provided places for soldiers to hide.

My companion looked at the land with the pride of a bride
married to the countryside.

I will exalt in my Savior
because I savor
salvation's flavor.

I cried for help without wealth.
I was restored to good health.

I was brought up from the dead.
I learned from what was said.

Sing with thanks for salvation.
Feel the value of exaltation.

Wrath lasts for a moment in time.
Providence rings the perpetual chime.

Tears cleanse the soul.
Joy lets the body extol as whole.

Your favor made me feel strong.
I felt that I could right every wrong.

All things were created to exist.
Generation makes the soul persist.

Construction is a goal that helps us

Faith inspires excellence in effort and achievement.
Wisdom loves knowledge, speech, kindness and productive disagreement.

Reconciliation is the goal to contrive

Nations need to work together

You have turned struggle into a dance

30 Exaltabo te, Domine

1 I will exalt you, O Lord,
because you have lifted me up *
and have not let my enemies triumph over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried out to you, *
and you restored me to health.
3 You brought me up, O Lord, from the dead; *
you restored my life as I was going down to the grave.
4 Sing to the Lord, you servants of his; *
give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For his wrath endures but the twinkling of an eye, *
his favor for a lifetime.
6 Weeping may spend the night, *
but joy comes in the morning.
7 While I felt secure, I said,
"I shall never be disturbed. *
You, Lord, with your favor, made me as strong as
the mountains."
8 Then you hid your face, *
and I was filled with fear.
9 I cried to you, O Lord; *
I pleaded with the Lord, saying,
10 "What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the Pit? *
will the dust praise you or declare your faithfulness?
11 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me; *
O Lord, be my helper."
12 You have turned my wailing into dancing; *
you have put off my sack-cloth and clothed me with joy.
13 Therefore my heart sings to you without ceasing; *
O Lord my God, I will give you thanks for ever.

The foundation of the University of Leipzig in 1409 initiated the city's development into a center for German law and the publishing industry. The city moved toward being the location of the Reichsgericht (Imperial Court of Justice) and the German National Library (founded in 1912).

Peace of Westphalia
1648
Two Years Before the Birth of Leibniz

The Peace of Westphalia was a series of peace treaties signed between May and October 1648 in the Westphalian cities of Osnabrück and Münster. The peace enhanced the powers of the sovereign nation state instead of the Holy Roman Empire. It resolved much of Europe's Protestant and Catholic conflict.

The treaty ended the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648) in the Holy Roman Empire. The Habsburgs and their Catholic allies were on one side. The Protestant powers were Sweden, Denmark, the Dutch Republic, the Holy Roman principalities and France. France was Catholic but anti-Habsburg.

The treaty also ended the Eighty Years' War (1568–1648) between Spain and the Dutch Republic. Spain formally recognised the independence of the Dutch Republic. The Treaties of Westphalia brought to a close a tumultuous period of European history which saw many deaths.

Two battles took place in Breitenfeld during the Thirty Years War about 8 kilometres (5.0 miles) outside Leipzig city walls. The first Battle of Breitenfeld took place in 1631. The second occurred in 1642. Both battles resulted in victories for the Swedish-led side.

The Swedish empire was Protestant. It was engaged in boundary disputes with the Holy Roman Empire. This empire was being divided between Catholic and Protestant Princes.

Ottawa's former industrial appearance was vastly altered by the 1950 Greber Plan. Prime Minister Mackenzie King hired French architect-planner Jacques Greber to design an urban plan for managing development in the National Capital Region to make it more aesthetically pleasing and more befitting as the location for Canada's political center.

The Parisii, a sub-tribe of the Celtic Senones, inhabited the Paris area from around the middle of the 3rd century BCE. One of the area's major north–south trade routes crossed the Seine on the île de la Cité. This meeting place of land and water trade routes gradually became a town and an important trading center. The Parisii traded with many river towns.  Some came from as far away as the Iberian Peninsula. They minted their own coins for that purpose.

The Romans conquered the Paris Basin in 52 BCE. They began extending their settlement to the Left Bank in Paris after making the island a garrison camp. The Gallo-Roman town was originally called Lutetia (more fully, Lutetia Parisiorum, "Lutetia of the Parisii"). It became a prosperous city with a forum, baths, temples, theaters and an amphitheater.

Himeji has been the center of Harima Province since Nara period. Ikeda Terumasa received a fief at Harima Province and established the Himeji Domain after the Battle of Sekigahara. He expanded the Himeji Castle and its castle town.

One hundred and seven aircraft took off to bomb Himeji on July 3, 1945 at 4:23 PM (JST). Seven hundred and sixty seven tons of incendiary bombs were dropped on the city during the raid. Over sixty percent of the built up area for the city was destroyed. The famous Himeji Castle remained remarkably unscathed even though it had been hit by one firebomb. This resulted in many residents believing that the castle is divinely protected.

Himeji Castle

Travel to Japan

The construct is a hilltop castle complex situated in the city of Himeji. It is located in the Hyōgo

Prefecture of Japan.

Tokugawa Ieyasu was a great unifier of Japan. He ordered the construction of the castle on the site of the existing fort in 1601. It was part of his strategy to build one castle per province.
Ieyasu’s peacekeeping plan was so successful that Himeji’s castle never saw battle.

The defense includes a combination of moats, baileys, towers and winding walled alleyways. There are 83 buildings in all. The fight scene in "You Only Live Twice" was filmed there.

The ninja were a spy caste that originated in the secretive mountain communities of Mie Prefecture. A group was resident in the grounds of Himeji.

Ninja were regarded as a lower caste of warrior. They were not considered worthy of a place in the castle itself. Their secretive nature kept them apart from the rest of the residents anyway. The spirit of concealment and stealth is evoked in the design of the castle itself nevertheless.

The fort is also known as White Heron Castle (Shirasagijo) due to its elegant, white appearance. It is widely considered to be Japan's most spectacular castle for its imposing size and beauty. It has well preserved and complex castle grounds. The castle is a national treasure and a world heritage site.

Unlike many other Japanese castles, it was never destroyed by war, earthquake or fire. It survives to this day as one of the country's twelve original castles. The structure recently underwent extensive renovation over several years. It was fully re-opened to the public in March 2015.

The fort lies at a strategic point along the western approach to the former capital city of Kyoto. The first fortifications built on the site were completed in the 1400's.

They were gradually enlarged over the centuries by the various clans who ruled over the region. The castle complex as it survives today is over 400 years old. It was completed in 1609. It is made up of over eighty buildings spread across multiple baileys which are connected by a series of gates and winding paths.

Visitors enter the main keep through an entrance in the lower floor of the building and climb upwards via a series of steep, narrow staircases. Each level gets progressively smaller as you ascend.

The floors are generally unfurnished and display just a few multilingual signs explaining architectural features such as portholes, rock chutes and concealed spaces as well as renovation efforts made over the years to preserve the structure.

The topmost floor houses a small shrine and lets visitors peer out in all directions, down over the castle roofs, at the maze-like defenses below and out across the city of Himeji. You can also admire an up close view of the fish-shaped roof ornaments that are believed to protect from fire.

The name "Saitama" originally comes from the Sakitama (埼玉郡) district of what is now the city of Gyōda in the northern part of what is now known as Saitama Prefecture. "Sakitama" has an ancient history and is mentioned in the famous 8th century poetry anthology Man'yōshū. The pronunciation has changed from Sakitama to Saitama over the years.
