The name Qufu literally means "crooked hill". It refers to a mile-long hill that was part of the city during its time as capital of the state of Lu. Lu (1042–249 BCE) was a vassal state during the Zhou dynasty of ancient China located around modern Shandong province. It was founded in the 11th century BCE.
The area around Qufu was home to the people of Yan during the Shang dynasty (c. 1600 to 1046 BCE). The Shang came before the Xia and Zhou dynasties. The Yan were counted among the "Eastern Barbarians" or Dongyi by the Chinese.
Yan joined the Shang prince Wu Geng and the Three Guards along with Pugu and Xu in their failed rebellion against the Duke of Zhou c. 1042 BCE. The Duke launched punitive campaigns against the Dongyi after the defeat of the rebels to force their submission and place their territory under loyal nobles.
The territory of the Yan became part of the state of Lu. Qufu was their capital throughout the Spring and Autumn period. The name for the period is derived from the Spring and Autumn Annals, a chronicle of the state of Lu between 722 and 479 BCE. Tradition associates this time with Confucius.
The name "Confucius" is a Latinized form of the Mandarin Chinese "Kǒng Fūzǐ" ("Master Kong"). It was coined in the late 16th century by the early Jesuit missionaries to China. His clan name was Kong. Kong literally means an utterance of thankfulness when prayer has been answered.
His first name was Qiu. His "capping name" was given upon reaching adulthood. He was known to all but his older family members as "Zhòngní." This was his name as the second son of the family. Ni was the hill at which his parents prayed for the birth of another child.
It is thought that Confucius was born on September 28, 551 BCE in the district of Zou near present-day Qufu. The area was nominally controlled by the kings of Zhou but it was effectively independent under the local lords of Lu.
His father Kong He (孔紇) or Shuliang He (叔梁紇) was an elderly commandant of the local Lu garrison. His ancestry traced back through the dukes of Song to the Shang dynasty which had preceded the Zhou. Traditional accounts of Confucius's life relate that Kong He's grandfather had migrated the family from Song to Lu.
Kong He died when Confucius was three years old. Confucius was raised by his mother Yan Zhengzai (顏徵在). His mother would later die at less than 40 years of age. He married Qiguan (亓官) at 19 years old. A year later the couple had their first child, Kong Li (孔鯉). Qiguan and Confucius would later have two daughters together, one of whom is thought to have died as a child.
Confucius was educated at schools for commoners. He studied to learn the Six Arts there. The Six Arts were Rites, Music, Archery, Charioteering, Calligraphy and Mathematics.
Confucius was born into the class of shi (士). This was the class between the aristocracy and the common people. He is said to have worked in various government jobs during his early 20's. He acted as a bookkeeper and a caretaker of sheep and horses. He used the proceeds to give his mother a proper burial. Confucius (aged 23) is said to have mourned for three years in accord with tradition when his mother died.
Confucius was a Chinese teacher, editor, politician and philosopher of the Spring and Autumn period of Chinese history (722-479 BCE).
The philosophy of Confucius is also known as Confucianism. It emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice and sincerity. His followers competed successfully with many other schools during the Hundred Schools of Thought era only to be suppressed in favor of the Legalists during the Qin Dynasty.
The thought of Confucius received official sanction following the victory of Han over Chu after the collapse of Qin. His thought was further developed into a system known in the West as Neo-Confucianism. This was developed later into New Confucianism (Modern Neo-Confucianism).
Confucius is traditionally credited with having authored or edited many of the Chinese classic texts including all of the Five Classics. Modern scholars are cautious in attributing specific assertions to Confucius himself. Aphorisms concerning his teachings were compiled in the Analects many years after his death. (479 BCE)

Citta di Castello translates as 'town of the castle.' It is a city in the province of Perugia in the northern part of the Umbria. It is near the border with Tuscany and Marche. The Tiber river flows along its western side. The town was founded by the ancient Umbri and Gallic tribes. It may have entered conflict with the Etruscans.
The Romans knew it as Tifernum Tiberinum ("Tifernum on the Tiber"). Pliny the Younger built his villa in nearby Tuscis. The villa is noted for the walls, mosaic floors and marble fragments surviving at a place now called Colle Plinio, the "Hill of Pliny."
Pliny was a lawyer, author and magistrate under Trajan (r.98-117). He wrote hundreds of letters. His letters to Trajan provide one of the few surviving records of the relationship between the imperial office and provincial governors.
Pliny wrote a letter to Emperor Trajan around 112 as the governor of Bithynia-Pontus in modern Turkey. He asked for counsel on dealing with Christians in the letter (Epistulae X.96).
He consulted Trajan in order to be on solid ground regarding his actions in the legal investigation of Christians. Trajan's response to Pliny makes it clear that being a Christian was sufficient for punishment, but Christians were not to be tracked down. Anonymous denunciations were to be ignored.
Tifernum was largely destroyed during the Ostrogothic campaign by Fantalogus at the orders of Totila in 550 CE. The town was subsequently rebuilt by its bishop Floridus around a castle. It was renamed first Castru Felicitatis by Lombards and later Civitas Castelli. It went to the Holy See by the donation of the Frankish king Pepin the Short in 752.
It became an independent commune or alliance for defense in the first half of the 12th century.
St Francis established the Eremo di Buonriposo on Monte Citerone about 5 km (~3 mi.) from the city in the early 13th century. It was a stopping place on his way to la Verna. The Commune decided to install a bell there that could be used to warn of any imminent danger of a Visconti invasion in 1352.
Antonio da Sangallo the Younger built an extensive palace for the Vitelli family in the 15th century.
The city has seen a considerable expansion northwards toward San Giustino towards the end of the 20th century. Industrial parks track the river, railroad and main highway. Several kinds of mechanical goods, textiles, ceramics and furnishings are produced in the area. Agriculture is practiced at an advanced level. The city is the main economic center for the region.
Some historians of art indicate the town as the place of the origin for the Renaissance.

The city is named for the poet John Greenleaf Whittier and is home to Whittier College.
Jonathan Bailey and his wife, Rebecca, were among the first residents. They followed the Quaker religious faith and practice and held religious meetings on their porch. The citizens named the settlement after John Greenleaf Whittier as it grew. He was a respected Quaker poet. A lot was deeded to him. He wrote a poem about the city but, he never came.
Residents lobbied the state Legislature to establish a reform school for youth. It was operating by 1891, providing jobs to Whittierites. The college was established as an academy in the same year.
The hospital opened in 1957. The city library was added to the civic center in 1959. A portion of East Whittier was annexed. It added 28,000 people to the population.

The Tokyo Big Sight convention center was opened in 1996. The center is located in Ariake Minami district of Tokyo Waterfront City on Tokyo Bay waterfront. Its most iconic feature is the visually distinctive conference tower. The name Tokyo Big Sight eventually became the official name. It has also become the name of the operator since April 2003.

Ono Mizuho was born on September 29, 2000 in Tokyo, Japan.
Omizu (おみず) is a Japanese pop singer under Hello! Project as a member of Tsubaki Factory. She was introduced alongside seven other girls at the Hello Pro Kenshuusei on May 4, 2015.
It was announced on August 13, 2016 at Tsubaki Factory's fanclub event that Ono had joined the group as new member alongside Onoda Saori and Akiyama Mao.
Ono was a first year high school student when she joined Tsubaki Factory. She graduated from high school this last year.
She joined Hello Pro Kenshuusei because she loved Hello! Project and wanted to be a part of it. Her dream was to join a cute and cool unit under Hello! Project. Her future dream is to have many people know Tsubaki Factory.
