Disputatio tempore

Saturn was seen before we could dream
of counting his moons as a part of his team.

The seventh of the heavenly objects that shine in the night
is the planet that is known as the symbol of time.

The oldest known of celestial spheres
adheres to the path to travel with tears
that veers from that of which the stars steer.

The Lord of the rings
has exchanged meaningful things.

He gathered together the fauns and the nymphs
and gave them a glimpse of life without pimps.

Saturn has many moons.
Their orbits play different tunes.

Titan is larger than Mercury.
His lineage precedes that of Hercules.

Rhea is plenty smaller than our moon
but she is the wife to Saturn's swoon.

Many others are smaller still.
They don't comply with the equatorial will.

Crashes do occur.
Space debris does recur.

A co-orbit exists where the rocks change place
The inside track is replaced.

Janus and Epimetheus make the change.
Transitions are the name of their game.

Rock holds the joy for our salvation.
The height of mountain celebrates our elation.

The depth of cavern shields us from harm.
Rubble tells the standing stone that it is lacking charm.

The sheep have been scattered on a day of darkness.
The wilderness can seem so harsh that it is heartless.

Care seeks out the flock as they drift like clouds.
The shepherd calls each by name with a voice that is loud.

The sheep have been found.
The shepherd feels the profound sound
of joy echo from the ground.

Don't harden your heart for adversity.
Knowledge is found at the edge of uncertainty.

Quarreling in hardship was pronounced.
The counting of faults was announced.

Testing without rest was a mess.
Survival was for the fittest when it was best.

The wilderness was a maze in the mind.
The consequence for error was that which confined.

Where was there water
for your son or your daughter?

Where was the food
that would lighten your mood?

Where was the danger
that crept up like a stranger?

Where was the pasture
that would result in your laughter?

Where was the power for those who believe?
Where was the knowledge that would provide your relief?

March is the month that marks the start for the growing season.
Politics is framed in the context of the contest for economic reason.

Joseph had interpreted his dream for storage
to secure surplus against when we had to forage.

Prosperity followed for the interpration of natural design
until benefit from agreement with the Pharaoh had declined.

The Israelites found themselves decline to a state of servitude
as the leadership of Egypt grew a more celestial attitude.

Moses fled from the land to avoid the guilt produced
after he had killed a man for a pattern of abuse.

He saw a bush burn though the flames did not consume it.
The name for the divine nature was seen by the one who had viewed it.

Nature exists in that which is divine
as an expression of the intent for the design.

Pharaoh released the people after the last of many plagues
that showed that the power of the prophet prevailed over oppressive ways.

The congregation wandered through the wilderness of sin
to find food and water wherever their feet had carried them.

When they did not find water at the place of rest in Rephidim
the people complained against Moses as though the lack was because of him.

'Were we brought out of Egypt to die from thirst?
Leaving the life we knew looks more and more like a curse.'

Moses took his staff along with the elders of Israel
to the rock of Horeb to produce water as something visible.

He struck the hot rock with his staff.
It split in half. The elders laughed.

Water gushed out for the people to drink
before they could blink or think.

The place was named for the test that the quarrel had made.
Providence was demonstrated when the risk for faith was paid.

The Son sat down by the well on the shoulder of the road.
He asked the watchful woman for a drink of water as not necessarily owed.

He offered her living water that she might see what could be shown
by the gift of giving something that was hers but not her own.

This gift of giving gave the promise of eternal life
insofar as the gift is returned like a husband's hug to his wife.

She asked him for the wonder of this unending gift.
She thought the trick was to receive without the work of thrift.

He asked her to get her husband  and to bring him back.
She said she had no husband to hide her lack of tact.

He said you were right to say you have not that which you lack.
'You had 5 husbands. The man with whom you live is the one that you do not have.'

She said 'I see that you are a prophet, but I cannot worship in the Temple.'
He said the Father seeks those who will worship wherever they may assemble.

The gift of the Holy Spirit wishes for worship in spirit and truth.
The spirit of truth is given by the Son that seeks to share his truth with youth.

We stand justified by faith with grace in the hope of Christ.
We have been honored to share in the glory that his sacrifice sufficed.

The experience of adversity produced endurance.
Endurance produced character with assurance.

Character has formed hope that doesn't disappoint
that which is right about that to which we point.

Love has been poured into our heart's by the Holy Spirit
for the experience of the presence for those who will draw near it.

Someone might dare to die for a good person
but the choice to die for those who were not certain
would be as rare as the final curtain.

Christ died for us when we were sinners
to glorify reconciliation with God for winning figures.

We will be saved from wrath in justification by his blood
as a body for salvation annointed by his love.

The evidence for our testament has been revealed by the Father
through the reconciliation that Jesus Christ has offered.

When the Son of man and his angels appear,
will you be ready for the heavenly here?

Survival for fitness was for the best.
Learn from the experience expressed in the test.

Come let us sing the song of salvation.
It will be good for us, the world and our nation.

Psalm 95
Venite, exultemus
Come, let us

1 Come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
3 For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
and the heights of the hills are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have molded the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!
8 Harden not your hearts,
as your forebears did in the wilderness,
at Meribah, and on that day at Massah,
when they tempted me.
9 They put me to the test,
though they had seen my works.
10 Forty years long I detested that generation and said,
"This people are wayward in their hearts;
they do not know my ways."
11 So I swore in my wrath,
"They shall not enter into my rest."

God is King

Psalms 93-99 are called the royal psalms. They declare that God is the King for his people.
None in this group is titled as one of David's. Psalm 95 is attributed to David in the letter to the Hebrews (Heb. 4:7).

It is conceivable that the Roman general Vespasian had notified the Pharisaical sect with Josephus that the temple in Jerusalem would be destroyed. The Judaic kingdom would be replaced with a republic under the name of Palestine. It would not be Jewish.

It was probably clear to Vespasian and Josephus that the Judean kingdom was more advanced culturally than the Roman republic.

Judea had demonstrated the capacity to entertain a system of election in a way that recognized the conservative reform embodied by the royal line of succession. It was done with the help of belief in the one God.

These royal psalms represented the abiltiy for the believer in any kingdom or republic to praise the sovereignty of deity in the people as well as in the royal line.

They ascribe royalty to God for national sovereignty.

Rock of Horeb

The last reading from the book of Exodus was for the last Sunday in February 2020. It was about the revelation to Moses on Mt. Sinai.

This selection refers to an event that preceded the ascription of law to tablets.

Moses had fled to Midian after he killed an Egyptian for the abuse of a Jew at work.

While he may have expected to remain in exile for the rest of his life, he had a mysterious encounter with  the burning bush that was not consumed by the flames that he saw. He witnessed a name as a testimony to the existence of the divine nature.

He felt compelled to receive the vision as instruction to return to Egypt to help the Israelites to escape from servitude and to lead them back to the land that had been promised to Abraham.

The initial petition to let the people go was made to Pharaoh by Aaron. Their workload was increased.  Moses and Aaron returned to insist on their release.

Plagues were sent on the land as a reminder that the authority of the Creator was greater than that of oppressive leadership.

The Isrealites were released after the last plague had passed over their children, but damaged or destroyed those who held on to belief in superstition.

Exodus 17:1-7

The whole congregation of the Israelites journeyed by stages from the wilderness of Sin (guilt) as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim (place of rest), but there was no water to drink. The people quarrelled with Moses and said, 'Give us water to drink.'

Moses said to them, 'Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the LORD?'

The people thirsted for water. They complained against Moses and said, 'Did you bring us out of Egypt to kill us, our children and livestock with  thirst?'

Moses cried out to the LORD, 'What shall I do? The people are almost ready to stone me.'

The LORD said, 'Go on ahead of the people. Take some of the elders of Israel. Take the staff with which you struck the NIle and go. I will be standing there in front of you on the rock of Horeb (heat). Strike the rock. Water will come out of it so the people may drink.'

Moses did these things in the sight of the elders. He called the place Massah (test) and Meribah (quarrel) because the Israelites had quarrelled and tested the LORD saying, 'Is the LORD among us or not?'

Hope

Justification by faith was shown to be the case by the interpretation of the story about Abraham in the 4th chapter of the letter to the Romans. He received the promise through the righteousness of faith. We are justified in the same way.

Persuasion for conversion was aimed at the adult audience in Rome. Circumcision had been worked into the Judaic faith as a rite after the promise had been made to Abraham. The rite itself was a testimony to the value of hygiene for ease in the reduction of odor.

Baptism as a rite also promoted good hygiene, but it didn't require adult men to receive circumcision in order to enter the community of the religious body. It offered the symbolic history of Judaism as the way to cleanse perception for the reception of faith in the one God.

The apostle pointed to Abraham as the renowned forefather in Jewish reverence. Since justification wasn't counted before the law, he was given the promise by grace. Abraham became the spiritual forefather for all in his obedience to the promise.

The gift of grace given to Abraham pointed to Christ as the incarnation of the Son for monotheism and monogamy as standards for the religious body. Abraham's faith did not justify him by his own merit or value. It gave him a part in Christ.

We are not justified by the merit of our own work. Faith in Jesus Christ and his righteousness is the truth urged by the 3d and 4th chapters as the foundation for comfort.

Christ worked for our salvation by his passion and death. The power of his work with respect to us depends on his resurrection for the vision of our perfection. He paid our debt by his death. He received our receipt for settlement in his resurrection.

We received the discharge from the guilt and punishment of sin in him by his sacrifice once and for all time. This is the summary for the gospel. We have also been given the promise of salvation.

Romans 5:1-11

We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have obtained access to the grace in which we stand justified by faith. We boast in the hope of sharing this glory.

We also boast in our suffering knowing that suffering produces endurance. Endurance produces character. Character produces hope and hope does not disappoint us. God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

Christ died for the ungodly at the right time while we were still weak. Someone might actually dare to die for a good person, but rarely will anyone die for any one who is not. God proved his love for us in that while we were sinners Christ died for us.

We will be saved from wrath through him now that we have been justified by his blood. If we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son while we were enemies, much more surely will we be saved by his life having been reconciled.

Our boast is in the Father through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Topo Map for Sychar, Samaria

Political Map Sychar, Samaria

The Well

The fourth gospel described the identity of Jesus. The gospel text presented an explanation of Christ's nature and origin as the christian Christology.

Much of the material that had been common to the other 3 gospels was left out. This text includes discourses about the divinity of the Son as the Word for the kingdom of God.

The theological implications for the vision of John the Baptist at the baptism of Jesus were set down in the first chapter of the gospel of John the Evangelist.

Water was turned into wine at the wedding celebration in Canaan. The money-changers were driven from the temple.

Nicodemus was told that it was through the water and the Spirit that a believer had to be re-born in spirit and truth to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

John the Baptist declared that Christ was above all.

The 4th chapter recounted the presentation of the Son of God in Samaria, then Galilee. It provided a vision for the redemption of Israel and the lost tribes.

The disciples baptized for repentence in the name of Jesus. Those who had started with John baptized more than he did through their discipleship with Christ as representative of leadership in the world.

When the Pharisees heard of the success of baptism, Jesus chose to leave Judea to travel back to Galilee. He had to pass through Samaria.

Jesus could have chosen a route that avoided Samaria. Most Israelites chose the route near the Jordan to travel north. The Samaritans were hostile to Jews.

He chose to pass through Samaria as part of God's plan for redemption. The  history of discord between Judeans and Samaritans stretched back to pre-Samaritan times in the 10th century BCE. The 10 northern tribes of Israel united in a civil war against David's descendant King Rehoboam.

The 10 tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel elected Jeroboam, a descendant of Joseph's son Ephraim, as their king.

Jeroboam expelled all the priests and Levites to reject worship with the Covenant at the Temple in Jerusalem. He set up a new Temple on Mt. Gerizim in violation of the Sinai Covenant and reintroduced golden calf worship.

The Assyrians exiled the 10 tribes of Israel for rebellion in the 8th century BCE. They brought in 5 different groups of people from the East. They brought their gods and their baalim [plural of baal] with them. This was syncretized with the worship of Yahweh.

The Samaritans offered to help rebuild the Temple in the 6th century BCE when the Southern Kingdom of Judah was allowed to return from the Babylonian exile to rebuild in Jerusalem.

They sought to keep the Jews from rebuilding the Temple after their offer was rejected. Did they want to help re-build or was it part of their plan to disrupt the re-construction?

Centuries of enmity left deep-seeded distrust between Jews and Samaritans.  The Samaritans only accepted the first 5 books of Moses (Genesis through Deuteronomy).  They did not accept the histories or the prophets or the books of wisdom into their canon.

The word Sychar is probably the Greek corruption of the name of the ancient city of Shechem. Shechem means 'shoulder' or 'personal interest.' It was where Jacob had made his well. It was to become the capital for the northern kingdom.

The Aramaic name for Shechem is Sichara. The word is very similar to the name Sychar. Scholars usually identify Sychar as either the ancient city of Shechem near Mt. Gerizim or as the present day Arab village of Askar at the foot of Mt. Ebal.

The site for Sychar was prominently located on the road to Galilee in the time of Jesus. Many scholars identify Sychar as the ancient Shechem.

Jesus was tired by the time that he reached Jacob's well, but he did not waste the opportunity to reach out to the lost sheep as the Good Shepherd.

Jesus spoke with the Samaritan woman about her husbands and the man to whom she was not married. She asked others, "Can this be the Christ?" Many believed.

John 4:5-24

Jesus came to a Samaritan city called Sychar near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. Jacob's well was there. He was sitting by the well at about noon tired from his journey.

A Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, 'Give me a drink.' (His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.) The woman said, 'How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria? (Jews did not share things in common with Samaritans.)

Jesus answered, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that is saying to you "Give me a drink", you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.'

The woman said, 'Sir, you have no bucket. The well is deep. Where did you get that living water? Are you greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us the well from which his sons and his flocks drank?'

Jesus said, 'Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become a spring of water gushing up to eternal life in them.'

The woman said, 'Give me this water so I may never be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.'

Jesus said, 'Go, call your husband and come back.' The woman answered, 'I have no husband.' Jesus said, 'You are right to say, "I have no husband." You have had 5 husbands and the one you are with now is not your husband. What you have said is true!'

The woman said, 'I see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you say that the place where people must worship is in Jerusalem.'

Jesus said, 'Believe me. The hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You worship what you do not know. We worship what we know for salvation is from the Jews. The hour is coming on us, when the true worshipper will worship the
Father in spirit and truth. The Father seeks such as these. God is spirit. Those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.'

----------------------

The Son sat down by the well on the shoulder of the road

Louise de Marillac

When monasticism was authorized by the pope after the claim of papal  sumpremacy, it wasn't dedicated to the recognition of national sovereignty. Participation in the traditional orders carried both a papal and socialist kind of internationalism.

Monasticism had originated with Anthony of Egypt. His followers literally did not own property at the start. They left all that they had to live in the wilderness as a pre-civilized state of existence. They sought to find the economy of natural law.

There were probably benefactors who joined later who claimed that they had sold all their possessions to serve the poor, but used their money to purchase land to build an estate that could house labor that would produce a product of value for the market.

There was a literal aspect in the obedience to the statement to sell all that you have and serve the poor, but it is likely that the abbot who bought property for the use of the Church and didn't sell all his possessions was able to sustain the community long enough to pass it to a successor who could be expected to lead the group in liturgical and social productivity.

It seems likely that the public statement that all had been given to the poor became a declaration that a property would be used to house labor in the name of the Church.

The life of the organization was sustained in the process. The estate might have even made enough for the abbot to give back to the family from which he came.

A number of monasteries were successful because they took in visitors who would make a voluntary contribution for the stay.

The voluntary part of the contribution allowed those who were poor to pay less than a lodge might charge.  Participation in liturgical prayer and the communal contemplation of the scripture was asked to make up the difference.

There was also the chance that a charitable contributor would make a substantial donation for charity and the life of the monastic community.

The vow of chastity was a public admission that marriage didn't look like it would ever work for the monastic. The vow of poverty was a pledge to work for the sustainment of the community.

The vow of charity was an open door to perform good works for those who were less fortunate and not willing to join a monastery.

The medical profession and related supports were largely developed out of innovations that had been adopted and sustained by monastic communities.

Some monasteries used the land purchased in the name of the church to plant vineyards for wine or grain for bread and other foodstuffs.

French Monasticism

Louise de Marillac was born in France, but she had wanted to join the Poor Clares when she was growing up. The Reformation in France was managed differently than in England. Protestants had become a social as well as a religious influence on government.

The royalty in France did not dissolve monastic orders or confiscate their property.

Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac created a new national order. The monastic vows were revised for social service in the context of republic or kingdom. There was an increased emphasis on the value of national sovereignty. The property for the monastic order was retained in the name of the leader as privately owned.

While the Church in France, Spain or other nations did not necessarily claim independence from Rome as King Henry VIII had done, there was an adjustment in emphasis even for nations that remained 'catholic.' This adjustment was supported by the Anglican and Lutheran Reformations.

Vincent de Paul established the Congregation of the Mission in 1625. The members of this order were called the Lazarists or Vicentians. They were a community of priests who devoted themselves to work in the small towns and villages of France even though it wasn't necessarily the best choice for ecclesiastical advancement in urban settings like the capital.

Louise established the Daughters of Charity as a mobile monastic community. They didn't live cloistered behind the walls of a monastery devoted to the contemplative life with the liturgical cycle of prayer.

The sisters set up soup kitchens, organized community hospitals, established schools and homes for orphaned children, offered job training, taught the young to read and write and worked to improve prison conditions.

The order spread out from Paris into the countryside, but those who were willing to go through the French speaking world or beyond were authorized by the instruction in charity work. It had become a privately owned and organized form of social work for charity.

Donations were accepted.

Louise de Marillac
b. 8.12.1591  Le Meux, Olse, France
d. 3.15.1660  Paris, France

Louise was born out of wedlock near Le Meux in the Olse department of Picardy in northern France on August 12, 1591. She never knew her mother.

Louis de Marillac, Lord of Ferrires (1556-1604), claimed her as his natural daughter but not his legal heir. Louis was a member of the prominent de Marillac family. He was a widower at the time that Louise was born.  Her uncle, Michel de Marillac, was a major figure in the court of Queen Marie de' Medici.

Louise was not a member of the Queen’s court, but she lived and worked among the French aristocracy.

When her father married his new wife, Antoinette Le Camus, she refused to accept Louise as part of their family. Louise grew up amid the affluent society of Paris, but without the stability offered by the promise of inheritance home life.

She was cared for and received an excellent education at the royal monastery of Poissy near Paris. Her aunt was a Dominican nun.

Louise remained at Poissy until her father's death when she was 12 years old. She stayed with a devout spinster from whom she learned household management skills in addition to the secrets of herbal medicine.

Louise felt drawn to the cloistered life at around the age of 15. She made an application to the Capuchin nuns in Paris but was refused admission. It is not clear if her refusal was for poor health or other reasons. Her spiritual director assured her that God had "other plans" for her.

Her family convinced her that marriage was the best alternative when she was 22 years old. Her uncle arranged for her to marry Antoine Le Gras, secretary to Queen Marie.

Antoine was an ambitious young man who seemed destined for great accomplishments. Louise and Antoine were wed in the fashionable Church of St. Gervaise on February 5, 1613.

The couple had their only child, Michel, in October. Louise grew to love Antoine and was an attentive mother to their son.

Louise was also active in ministry in her parish. She had a leading role in the Ladies of Charity, an organization of wealthy women dedicated to assisting those suffering from poverty and disease.

Her two uncles who held high rank within the government were imprisoned during civil unrest.  One was executed in public. The other died in prison.

Antoine contracted a chronic illness and eventually became bedridden in 1621. Louise nursed and cared for him. Depression threatened to overtake Louise as the illness took its toll on Antoine in 1623.

She had suffered doubt for years for not having answered the call that she had felt as a teenager. Francis de Sales and his friend, the bishop of Belley, acted as sympathetic counsellors to her.

She had a religious experience on the feast of Pentecost during the Mass in 1623. She decided that it was right to stay with her husband. She vowed not to remarry if her husband was to die before her. She would be able to make her vows of service to the Church in a small community.

She believed that she had received the insight that she would be guided to a new spiritual director whose face she was shown. When she happened to meet Vincent de Paul, she recognized him as the priest from her vision.

Antoine died in 1625. Louise had managed to find time to maintain her household, entertain guests and nurture Michel, her 13-year-old son, with special needs.

She wrote her own "Rule of Life in the World" that detailed a structure for her day.

Time was set aside for reciting the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, attending Mass, receiving Holy Communion, meditation, spiritual reading, fasting, penance, reciting the rosary and special prayers.

She had to move after Antoine died as she lacked the financial means to sustain the property. Vincent lived near her new residence.

He was reluctant to be her confessor at first. He was busy with his Congregation of Charity. The members were aristocratic ladies of charity who were helping him nurse the poor and look after neglected children. It was a real need for the time.

The ladies were busy with many of their own concerns and duties. His work needed more helpers, especially ones who were peasants themselves. Louise was well prepared to teach and organize the poor.

Vincent invited Louise to become involved in his charity work in 1629. She found great success in these endeavors. She became convinced that it was time to intensify her ministry with poor and needy persons in 1632.

Louise found the help she needed in young, humble country women who had the energy and the proper attitude to deal with people weighed down by the suffering of destitution. She began working with a group of them and saw a need for common life and formation.

She invited four country girls to live in her home in the Rue des Fosses‐Saint‐Victor and began training them to care for those in need.

Mobility was a major innovation. The Daughters of Charity were unlike other established religious communities whose religious women were behind cloister walls in a monastery and performed a ministry of contemplative prayer.

"Love the poor and honor them as you would honor Christ Himself," Louise explained. That was the foundation of the Company of the Daughters of Charity which received official approbation in 1655.

The organization had sponsorship, but little capital. The mission gave instruction in prayer for order with hygiene in the household.

Louise led the Company of Daughters until her death in Paris on March 15, 1660.

She died six months before the death of her dear friend and mentor, Vincent de Paul. She was 68.

The Daughters of Charity had more than 40 houses in France. The nuns have always been held in high repute and have a presence in all parts of the world.

While monasticism in France was not immediately transformed French monasticism had been established. The work of Louise de Marillac and Vincent de Paul helped to start the transition to service that was extended through the French speaking world to other locations.

It was a lever against the claim of papal supremacy.

Socialism and Populism

The leading Democrats are either openly socialist or socialist without declaration.

Marxist socialism was defined in support of labor, either by government regulation or corporate selection. The institution of socialism as an economic form is against the attainment of education as a merit based system for employment.

This economic system imposes a degenerate influence on society. When people are hired because they don't have an education, it makes demographic despotism the rule for order in making decisions.

New York state declares itself a leading representative for education, but the mechanism for membership selection as used by the Tammany society are still employed for employment. It is not as openly behind the scenes as it had been, but it still operates like a ghost in the machine.

Populism is for the use of government in the redistribution of wealth. Huey Long is regarded as the leading representative of the economic policy for redistribution with taxation.

The hybrid economic form has found its way into the national media. Politicians don't emphasize concession to the demands of labor as in former times. Populism is the media expression for a 'socialist' agenda.

Factions are used to suggest that an anti-majority principle of government is necessary to correct the social institution of partiality in judgment.

When men aren't being accused of sexual assault as a form of sexism, white people are accused of institutional racism, because a minority can't institute racism against the majority.

It is a populist factionalism insofar as the factions are used to suggest to the public that government is necessary to shift the favor from due process in law to correcting the errors of sexism or racism with government favor. This adversely effects the distribution of wealth.

The epistle to James complained about wealthy people dragging the poor into court in order to win the court case with the influence of affluence. He didn't complain about people with less wealth dragging people to court to take money from those who were wealthier. Neither case is ethically justified.

A court case has to be determined on the merit of argument for justice. Was the person who brought the complaint wronged by the accused?

The gospel of Matthew also expressed bias against the wealthy when it was assumed that the rich man was the cause for the condition of Lazarus. He had been taking money without having earned it, while Lazarus sought nothing more than to ask for money from others.

It's not as though there are never wealthy people who exploit others. It's just not the case that wealthy people are always guilty of offending large groups of people.

Social security was presented as employment insurance for the payer and disability insurance for others. Socialists and populists use it for their re-election.

Donald Trump is not a populist. Family trusts are formed by private investment in privately owned corporations. It is an endorsement of capitalist enterprise that warrants merit. Many of those in labor who had their demands met by corporate employment have trusts esbalished for them.

Legal complications have ensured that the use of family trust for supplemental income is not too easy.

------------------

Huey Long longed to share the wealth.
Article: JSTR Daily

Long and Trump
Article: The Advocate

Populism was against the established authority as an agency for the wealthy. It advocated for increased taxes to redistribute or share the wealth.

Donald Trump has had to defend the public and himself against attacks from the abuse of authority by those who were leading the Democrat party.

HC used the media to declare that Republican had a war on women, so she could feel justified in going after men in the public perception. This included using the presumption of sexism  to authorize the claim of sexual assault with the support of media outlets.

BO used the media to imply that public opinion was stacked against black men. His position was used against the NRA and for taking a knee in football games. It was anti-majority in the implication that black men were oppressed by the 'majority.'

BO, HC and JB were working to increase hostility against foreign powers to authorize the destruction of Libya and the assault against Syria, Russia and China. Support for regime change was implicated as a promotion for ISIS and other terrorist organizations.

The Dems were the most aggressive in the media attack on successful Americans.
It is an error to define Donald Trump as a populist.

The only thing that Trump has in common with Huey Long is that he is fiery also.

The leaders of the earth will recognize
goodness in leadership when it is seen with eyes

They will sing about moral economy

The right to life is first for our thirst.
Recognition is immersed, interspersed

Moral law must be drawn from experience with science.

Proper Acceptance of Abstraction
Compound Idea

"...we are told, the mind being able to consider each quality singly, or abstracted from those other qualities with which it is united, does by that means frame to itself abstract ideas. For example, there is perceived by sight an object extended, coloured, and moved: this mixed or compound idea the mind resolving into its simple, constituent parts, and viewing each by itself, exclusive of the rest, does frame the abstract ideas of extension, colour, and motion. Not that it is possible for colour or motion to exist without extension; but only that the mind can frame to itself by ABSTRACTION the idea of colour exclusive of extension, and of motion exclusive of both colour and extension."

Saitama, Saitama

Saitama is the capital and the most populous city of the prefecture. It is located about 25 km (15 miles) north of central Tokyo. Many of the residents commute to work there.

The city sits in the middle of the Kanto Plain.  This is the largest plain in Japan. The city was built on lowlands and plateaus. Most of the terrain is less than 20 m (65.6 ft.) above sea level. There are no mountain ranges or hills within the city limits.

The western portion of the city lies on the lowland created by the Arakawa River. Smaller rivers branch from the Arakawa. The major rivers flow southward almost parallel to each other. The rest of the area mostly resides on the Omiya Plateau. The plateau extends in the north-south direction.

The average high in August is 31.5 C (88.7 F). The average low in January is -1.5 C (29.3 F).

The economy is principally constituted by commercial business. The city is one of many commercial centers in the Greater Tokyo area. It serves the prefecture, North Kanto and northeast Honshu.

The Honda Legend is manufactured at the Sayama Plant. Food, optical, precision and pharmaceutical products are produced there as well. Calsonic Kansei is a global automotive company headquartered in the city.

Urawa Station is 24.2 km (15 m.) from Tokyo and 6.1 km (3.7 m.) from Omiya. Omiya Station is part of the high speed train network. It is the largest railway hub in the prefecture.

Saitama Super Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena. The maximum spectator capacity is listed as 37,000 seats.  Morning Musume, *C-ute, Berryz Kobo and AKB48 have performed in the stadium.

Maimai was born on February 7, 1996 in Saitama.

She took part in the Hello! Project Kids auditions at the age of 6. She passed along with 14 other girls on June 30. Her audition song was "Te wo Nigitte Arukitai" by Goto Maki.

Her first appearance in the entertainment industry was in the group 4KIDS. The group appeared in Minimoni the Movie in 2002.

Hello! Project Kids performed alongside Morning Musume at concerts as backup dancers. Hagiwara performed with the group through 2004.

Hagiwara was assigned as a member of *C-ute with 7 other Hello! Project Kids members in 2005. The 8 members were passed over when it came to forming Berryz Koubou. *C-ute originally released songs on an indie label. Four indie singles were released in 2006. They also released their first album.

*C-ute first debut single, "Sakura Chirari" ranked third on the Oricon charts on February 21, 2007. This was the first day that it was shown to the public. The average age for the group was 13. They became the youngest group in the top 10.

Hagiwara published two individual photo books along with one group book that celebrated graduation from high school.

Hagiwara was seen walking with a man on a tabloid's web program in April of 2016. She apologized to the public for any misunderstanding. She consulted with the other *C-ute members about whether she should resign. The other members expressed their desire to work hard together.

It was announced on August 20, 2016 that the group would disband in June 2017 at the Saitama Super Arena.  They were ready to move on to different positions in their careers.

There is a 'no-dating' rule for the Hello! Project members who have not graduated or disbanded that is intended to help the performers to stay focused on their performance work.

Stage performance, especially with music and dancing, requires a greater time committment than other forms of work. Studio production of records and videos seeks to create the highest performance level for the market. It doesn't leave time for a relationship with regular dates.

Hagi-chan announced that she would study English in New Zealand after the disbandment of *C-ute on June 12, 2017.

She was announced as the design producer for &IDOL. The company was organized by Ito Yuna for former idols to collaborate with various industries to develop a new market to help grow the economy with a business concept that is centered on idols.

Their first project was a beach cafe named SUMMER&IDOL. It was open at Yuigahama in Kamakura Prefecture from July 2 to August 31.

Hagi-chan announced her brand name Mii with the design for an original T-shirt. She established an official website for the company on September 13, 2018.

How good it is to sing praises to our God!
how pleasant it is to honor him with praise!
2 The Lord rebuilds Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He counts the number of the stars

5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;

but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;

and prepares rain for the earth;
9 He makes grass to grow upon the mountains
and green plants to serve mankind.
10 He provides food for flocks and herds
and for the young ravens when they cry.
11 He is not impressed by the might of a horse;
he has no pleasure in the strength of a man;
12 But the Lord has pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who await his gracious favor.
13 Worship the Lord, O Jerusalem;
praise your God, O Zion;
14 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates;
he has blessed your children within you.
15 He has established peace on your borders;
he satisfies you with the finest wheat.
16 He sends out his command to the earth,
and his word runs very swiftly.
17 He gives snow like wool;
he scatters hoarfrost like ashes.
18 He scatters his hail like bread crumbs;
who can stand against his cold?
19 He sends forth his word and melts them;
he blows with his wind, and the waters flow.
20 He declares his word to Jacob,
his statutes and his judgments to Israel.
21 He has not done so to any other nation;
to them he has not revealed his judgments.
Hallelujah!

Vasily I
born 12.30.1371
in Moscow, Grand Duchy of Moscow

The Grand Duchy of Moscow

The Mongol Empire invaded Kievan Rus during the 13th century as part of the invasion of Europe.  Muscovy was a tributary vassal to the Golden Horde until 1480.

The duchy originated when Daniel I inherited Moscow in 1283. The state eventually eclipsed and absorbed the parent duchy of Vladimir-Suzdal by the 1320’s.

Muscovites, Suzdalians and other inhabitants of the Rus principality were allowed to retain their pagan, Slavic and Orthodox Christian traditions under the Tatar yoke. There was contact with the Byzantine Empire that facilitated cultural exchange.

The Line for Succession

Moscow was an insignificant trading outpost in the principality of Vladimir-Suzdal when the Golden Horde invaded Kievan Rus. The Tartars burned down Moscow in the winter of 1238.

The settlement was pillaged in 1293. The remote location for the outpost in a forested location offered some security from further attacks and occupation. A number of rivers provided access to the Baltic and Black Seas and to the Caucasus region.

The state of Moscow was developed by a line of dukes who ruled as princes in the larger principality. This line turned the small principality in the Moscow River Basin into the largest state in Europe in the 16th century.

Expansion of Muscovy 1340-1462

The first ruler was Daniel I. He was the youngest son of Alexander Nevsky of Vladimir-Suzdal. He started to expand his territory by seizing Kolomna and securing the bequest of Pereslavl-Zalessky to his family.

Daniel’s son Yury was also known as Georgiy. He ruled from 1303-1325. He came to control the entire basin of the Moskva River. He expanded westward by conquering Mozhaisk. He forged an alliance with the overlord of the Rus’ principalities, Uzbeg Khan of the Golden Horde, with his marriage to the khan’s sister.

The Khan allowed Yury to claim the title of Grand Duke of Vladimir-Suzdal. The position allowed him to interfere in the affairs of the Novgorod Republic to the north-west.

Ivan I ruled from 1325-1340 as Yury’s successor. He managed to retain the title of Grand Duke by cooperating with the Mongols. He collected tribute and taxes from other Rus’ principalities on their behalf.

The relationship enabled Ivan to gain regional ascendancy. The northern city of Tver rebelled against the Horde in 1327. The uprising was subdued by the joint forces of the Grand Duchy of Suzdal, the Grand Duchy of Moscow and the Tatars.

The victory over Tver helped Ivan to become one of the richest people in Rus’. He was known as “Kalita”, the “Moneybag”. (Ivan IV was known as the “Terrible.”) He used his treasure to purchase land in other principalities to finance the construction of stone churches in the Moscow Kremlin.

The Orthodox Metropolitan Peter (1308-1326) transferred his residence from Kiev to Moscow in 1325. The move enhanced the prestige of the duchy.

Ivan’s successors continued to gather land in Rus’ to increase the population and wealth for their rule. Their interests clashed with the expansion of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The subjects for this duchy were predominantly East Slavic and Orthodox.

Map of Lithuania 13th century

Grand Duke Algirdas of Lithuania allied himself by marriage with Tver. He undertook three expeditions against Moscow in 1368, 1370 and 1372. He was unable to take it. The main contention between Moscow and Vilnius was the city of Smolensk.

The royal family and the country were hit by the Black Death in the 1350’s. Dmitri Ivanovich was 9 years old when his parents died.

The ruler of Moscow found himself surrounded by Lithuanians and Muslim nomads. Dmitri Donskoi was educated by Metropolitan Alexis. Alexis ran the government in fact. Dmitry of Suzdal was the regent during the minority of heir apparent.

Donskoi acted as a champion for Orthodoxy when he ascended to his authority. He cultivated alliance with the Orthodox Church of Rus’. The duchy experienced a resurgence in influence due to the monastic reform of Sergius of Radonezh. The most important event during his early reign was to start the building of the Moscow Kremlin. It was completed in 1367.

The city withstood two sieges by Algirdas of Lithuania during the Lithuanian-Muscovite War (1368-72) thanks to the new fortress. The war ended with the Treaty of Lyubutsk. Dmitry settled a conflict with Mikhail II of Tver over Vladimir.

He managed to unite the warring principalities of Rus’ in his struggle against the Horde. Other princes from northern Russia acknowledged his authority. They contributed troops to the impending struggle. Dmitry had more than doubled the territory of the Principality of Moscow by the end of his reign.

He challenged the Khan’s authority and defeated his commander Mamai in the epic Battle of Kulikovo. The conflict took place on September 8, 1380 at Kulikovo Field near the Don River. Dmitry became known as Donskoi (of the Don) after the event.

The victory did not result in long term benefits immediately. Tokhtamysh sacked Moscow in 1382 to reassert vested authority over his vassal, the Grand Prince. While the Mongol domination did not end, it is regarded as the turning point. Muscovite power began to rise. Mongolian influence started to wane.

Dmitri became a national hero. The memory of Kulikovo Field mad the Rus’ people start believing in their ability to end Tatar domination. They were on the way to independence.

Vasily I Dimitriyevich
(1371-1425)

Vasily was the oldest son of Dmitry Donskoi and Grand Princess Eudoxia. Eudoxia was the daughter of Grand Prince Dmitry Konstantinovich of Nizhny Novgorod.

Vasily had traveled to the Tatar Khan Tokhtamysh in 1383 to obtain the Khan's patent for his father to rule the Russian lands as the grand prince of Vladimir. The prince of Tver also sought the patent.

Vasily succeeded in his mission diplomatically. He was kept at Tokhtamysh's court as a hostage until 1386. He took advantage of Tokhtamysh's conflict with his suzerain Timur Lenk (Tamerlane) to escape and return to Moscow.

He was the Grand Prince of Moscow from 1389 to 1425. He continued the process of unification started by his father. He annexed the principalities of Nizhny Novgorod and Murom.

The Khan gave him Nizhny Novgorod in exchange for the help Moscow had given from 1397-98 against one of his rivals, Kaluga, Vologda.  Veliki Ustyug and the lands of the Komi people were also annexed.

Feudal land ownership kept growing during his reign. The judicial powers of land owners were partially diminished and transferred to Vasily's deputies with the growth of princely authority in Moscow.

The Cathedral of the Annunciation

Russian chronicles recorded the name of a monk, Lazar the Serb. When he had newly arrived from Serbia he invented and built a clock on a tower in the Grand Prince's palace in Moscow. It was located behind the Cathedral of the Annunciation at the request of Vasily I in 1404.

It was the first mechanical clock in Russia. It was among the first ten such advanced clocks in Europe. It was a technical miracle at the time.  The numbers were written in Church Slavonic. The clock and the church in which it was located have not survived.

The most important ecclesiastical event of the time was the elevation of the Bulgarian, Gregory Tsamblak, to the metropolitan see of Kiev by Vytautus, the grand duke of Lithuania.  The hold of Moscow on the south-western Russian states was weakened as an immediate political consequence.

Vasily entered into an alliance with Lithuania in 1392 to prevent being attacked by the Tatars. He married Sophia, the only daughter of Vytautas the Great. The alliance turned out to be fragile. They waged war between 1406-1408.

Timur was the last of the nomadic conquerors of the Eurasian Steppe. He was the Emir. He became the ruler of the Muslim world after defeating the Mamluks of Egypt and Syria, the emerging Ottoman empire and the declining Delhi Sultanate.  He led military campaigns across western, southern and central Asia, the Caucasus and southern Russia.

The Mongolian emir raided the Slavic lands in 1395. He invaded the Volgan regions but did not penetrate as far as Moscow. Timur's raid served the Russian prince in the damage it caused to the Tatars.

The Horde was left in a state of anarchy for the next 12 years.  No tribute was paid to the Khan Olug Moxammat. Vast sums of money were collected in the Moscow treasury for military purposes.

The Timurid Empire looked like the next threat to the duchy, but the empire fragmented shortly after he died in 1405.

Edigu of the White Horde burnt Nizhny Novgorod, Gorodets, Rostov, Moscow and many other towns in 1408, but he failed to take Moscow. Vasily paid a long deferred visit of submission to the Horde in 1412.

Moscow's influence was growing abroad. This growth was evident in the fact that Vasily married his daughter Anna to Emperor John VIII Palaeologus of Byzantium in 1414.

Vasily I had served as a vassal to the Horde between 1389-1395 and again from 1412-1425.

The Rurik line lasted from Daniel I in 1283 to Feodor I, the son of Ivan IV, in 1598. Ivan IV was the first csar. The Godunov line had a short run from 1598-1605.

The Romanov line was started in 1613 when Michael was elected Tsar. The line ruled as tsars until Peter the Great, another Romanov, reorganized the government as an empire along western lines. His reign started in 1682.

The first university of higher learning was established in Moscow in 1687. It was called the Slavic-Greek-Latin Academy. This was the start of public education. Education in literacy prior to that point in time was provided by the Church in Slavonic. It was taught for prayer and bible study.

Cyril and Methodius had created the Glagolitic alphabet to translate the Bible and other texts into the Slavic language. It was first used in Moravia in 863.

The early Cyrillic alphabet was a simplification of the Glagolitic for a closer correspondence with Greek. It was used at schools established by Boris-Michael in the first Bulgarian Empire after he was baptized in 864.

The people of Kiev were baptised in 988 when Vladimir was the prince of Rus. The Cyrillic alphabet was used to write in Slavonic.

The Romanovs stayed in power for the most part until Nicholas II was overthrown by the Bolsheviks in 1917.

Rasputin was murdered on December 30, 1916. The USSR was formed on the same day in 1922.
The Soviet Union fell on December 26, 1991. The current government for Russia is a federation with a constitution. They are not communists.

Socialism persists as a problem for many nations. It is a problem because the economic theory uses the threat of insurrection or subversion as a means to overthrow government that is perceived to be conservative.

The precipitation of profit from war is a policy that advocates for liberal expenditure to promote insurrection with the force of arms or subversion with the rejection of conservative officials at the expense of the tax paying public.

The current FBI investigation of the president has claimed organization against collusion with Russia. There were videos of President Putin released to social media. There was a claim that leading Democrats had been hacked by Russians, but the claim has been shown to be motivated by partisan politics.

J. Edgar Hoover had an anti-communist policy that resulted in the deportation of one US resident. Communism was associated with treason because the economic theory had been used for the violent overthrow of foreign governments. The threat of violent overthrow was used to promote socialism as a theory that obtained results in politics. This is the subversive element.

The Bureau was used by Senator McCarthy for media expression against communism. The people that were dismissed from work were released by the authority of Congress.

I haven't found any reports of anyone having been imprisoned for communism. Liberals in the leadership of the FBI have reported prison sentences as part of the punishment for supporting collusion with Russia.

The FBI has been using socialism as a means to subordinate the office of the president to the covert agency control of Congress. They also display a drive in organization to have the president impeached because he, unlike his opponent in the presidential election, did not support an increase in hostility against Russia.

Rep. Pelosi spoke of the “power” that her election represents to the president. The context suggests that her definition of power includes the impeachment of the president if he doesn’t ‘get on board’ with her authority.

The implication was subversive. The Democrat platform is against the wall and immigration reform. It is for agreement with an increase in the taxation of the people.

This is not acceptable as public policy. The end of increasing expenditure for the precipitation of profit for violent insurrection or political subversion abroad is being used to increase the expense for having the chief executive official impeached for not supporting the continual increase in expenditure for the promotion of insecurity abroad or domestically at the expense of the security that is inherent to the civil rights for the US or any other national population.

The Jubilee Clock

Harlesden is an area located in northwest London. The clock that celebrates the jubilee of Queen Victoria serves as a focal point. The location has been unofficially called London’s reggae capital for the vibrancy of the Caribbean culture entertained by the population.

The population includes people of Afro-Caribbean descent as well as Irish, Portuguese, Brazilian, smaller Latin American and East African groups within the community.

Harlesden was a rural village in the 19th century. It began to develop an urban appearance with the building of the railways. Cottages for industrial and railway workers were built along with larger houses for the middle class.

The rural nature for the area was lost as factories replaced farms and woodland. Housing continued to expand from late Victorian times until the 1930’s. The village became part of the larger conurbation.
Charles Dunbar Broad

C.D. Broad was born in Harlesden in London, England on December 30, 1887.

He was educated at Dulwich College from 1900 until 1906. He gained a scholarship to study at Trinity College Cambridge in 1906. He gradaute with First-Class Honours with distinction n 1910.

He became a Fellow of Trinity College. This was a non-residential position. It enabled him to accept a position he had applied for as an assistant lecturer at St. Andrews University. He remained there in 1920 and worked there until 1923. He returned to Trinity College as a College lecturer.

He was a lecturer in 'moral science' in the faculty of philosophy at Cambridge University from 1926 until 1931.

He was appointed 'Sidgwick Lecturer' at Cambridge University in that year. He kept this role until he was appointed Knightbridge Professor of Moral Philosophy at the university in 1933. He held the position until 1953.

Broad was president of the Aristotelian Society from 1927 to 1928. He reprised the role from 1954 to 1955. He was also president of the Society for Psychical Research in 1935 and 1958.

He never married during a time when homosexual acts were designated as illegal by legislation. He sent a letter along with A.J. Ayer, Bertrand Russell, J.B. Priestly and 27 others to The Times. The letter urged the acceptance of the Wolfenden's Report's recommendation that homosexual acts should "no longer be a criminal offence."

Broad argued for "non-occurent causation" as "literally determined by the agent or self" in his essay "Determinism, Indeterminism, and Libertarianism."

New York, New York

The musical West Side Story premiered on Broadway on September 26, 1957. The book was written by Arthur Laurents. The music was composed by Leonard Bernstein. The lyrics were written by Stephen Sondheim. Jerome Robbins was the choreographer. The musical was inspired by the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.

The story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood in New York City in the 1950's. The population was blue collar and ethnic. The Sharks were from Puerto Rico. The Jets were white. Maria is the romantic interest for Tony. They are from the different ethnic groups. Tony is best friends with the leader of the Jets. Maria is the sister to the leader of the Sharks.

The musical debuted one day after the forced integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. It received mixed reviews due to the story about racial conflict. It won two Tony Awards for choreography and set design.

There were 732 performances in the maiden run. The play inspired the film version with Natalie Wood and Richard Beyman in 1962. The film won 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture. The stage version was soon revived.

Matt Lauer was born in New York City on December 30, 1957. He was the son of Marilyn (nee Gentry) a boutique owner, and Jay Robert Lauer, a bicycle-company executive. His parents divorced when he was young.

His father had Romanian Jewish ancestry. His mother was not Jewish. The distinction retained a genetic influence. Matt was not raised to be religious.

Lauer earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio University at age 39 in 1997. He had studied at the school's Scripps College of Communication, School of Media Arts and Studies. He had previously dropped out of the same institution in the spring of 1979.

Lauer began his television career as a producer of the noon newscast for WOWK-TV in Huntington, West Virginia in 1979. He had become an on-air reporter for the station's 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts by 1980.

He then started to move around the country. He hosted a number of weekly information and talk programs in Boston, Philadelphia, Providence and Richmond. He was also host of PM Magazine in Providence then in 1984 at WNEW-TV in New York until the show's cancellation in 1986.

He then moved on to co-hosting Made In New York on the station  with Jill Rappaport for a fifteen-week run in 1986. He also co-hosted Fame, Fortune and Romance in 1986. He also worked for ESPN in the 1980's. He then headed to Boston in 1988 to host WNEV-TV's Talk of the Town.

He returned to the New York market from 1989 to 1991. This time he went to Secaucus, New Jersey's WWOR-TV, where he hosted 9 Broadcast Plaza, a three-hour live interview program.

He departed that series as it took a turn in booking "tabloid" guests and topics. He relayed as a refusal to live-read ads on the show for Dial-a-Mattress.

Lauer appeared as the co-host along with Willow Bay of "Etc., Etc.", a show on the Travel Channel in 1991. He moved to WNBC in 1992 where he became co-anchor, alongside Jane Hanson, of the early weekday news show Today in New York. He also filled the role of Live at Five co-anchor with Sue Simmons after a year. He held that job until 1996.

Lauer's on-camera presence provided him with many opportunities with NBC's national news organization. He filled in as the newsreader on The Today Show for Margaret Larson when needed from 1992 to 1993. This "audition" period allowed him to join The Today Show full-time in January 1994 as news anchor.

He substituted for Bryant Gumbel on the Today Show as the Today Show news anchor. He was named the official co-anchor on January 6, 1997 after Gumbel stepped down.
He also hosted programming on Discovery Channel and MSNBC.

Lauer embarked on what was generally an annual five-day, globe-spanning adventure from 1998 until 2009 on the Today Show. The show was called Where in the World is Matt Lauer? This segment sent him to various locations around the world from where he reported on the importance of each location.

He broadcast from locations that included Bhutan, Easter Island, the Panama Canal, Iran, Hong Kong, Croatia and the Great Wall of China. NBC News announced the segment would no longer air in consideration of the stagnant, unstable U.S. economy in 2009.

He announced that he had signed a new contract with NBC News through 2017 on the April 5, 2012 program.

He conducted separate 30-minute interviews with presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on September 8, 2016.

It was revealed on November 30, 2016 that Lauer had signed a new contract up to 2018.
NBC News announced on November 29, 2017 that Lauer's employment had been terminated after an unidentified female NBC employee reported that Lauer had sexually harassed her during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. It was claimed that the harassment had continued after they returned to New York.

Lauer admit that there was only some truth to the allegations.

Boston, Massachusetts

Boston is the capital for Massachusetts. It is the largest city in population for the state and the New England region. It is one of the oldest cities in the United States. Ir was founded in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England.

It was the scene for a number of key events in the American Revolution. There was the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston. It continued to be an important port and manufacturing hub after the War for Independence. It developed as a center for education and culture.

The city's economy had recovered after 30 years of economic downturn by the 1970's. A number of high rise buildings were constructed in the Financial District and in Boston's Back Bay during this period.

Boston is sometimes called a "city of neighborhoods." There is a profusion of diverse subsections within the sections. The city government's Office of Neighborhood Services has officially designated 23 neighborhoods.

Nearly 23% of the population have identified as having Irish descent. This is the highest percentage of the top 50 most populous US cities according to a 2014 survey.

Boston had started as a Puritan stronghold. It changed dramatically in the 19th century with the arrival of European immigrants. The Irish dominated the first wave of newcomers during this period after the Great Irish Famine.

The population of Ireland had grown to about 8.2 million people by 1841. One estimate of the emigration for the potato blight put the population of Irish immigrants at 1.5 million between 1845 and 1855. Most moved to the US.

Their arrival transformed Boston from an Anglo-Saxon, Protestant city into one that has become progressively more diverse. Many Irish immigrants fought for the Union in the American Civil War. The display of patriotism helped to dispel much of the prejudice against them.

Summers are typically warm and humid. Winters are cold and stormy with occasional heavy storms. The coastal location on the North Atlantic moderates temperatures, but the city is prone to Nor'easter weather systems that produce much snow and rain.

Fog is fairly common in the spring and early summer. When sea breezes blow in from the sea when the ocean is cold create a drop in temperature. Thunderstorms are generated from May to September. These storms can occasionally include large hail, damaging winds and heavy downpours. The climate is relatively sunny overall.

The Boston based non-profit health care organization Partners in Health was founded in 1987. The organizational goals are to take the benefits of modern medical research to those in need to provide healthcare to the poorest areas of developing countries.

The organization collaborates with Harvard Medical School and the Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Eliza Dushku was born in Boston on December 30. She is the daughter of Philip Richard Dushku and Judith Ann (nee Rasmussen), a political science professor. Dushku's father is an Albanian from the city of Korce. Her mother is of Danish and English descent.

Dushku intended to attend Suffolk University in Boston where her mother taught at the time, but her agent asked her to submit a videotape audition for a show starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, another of his clients. Dushku rushed out to purchase dark makeup and other appropriate accessories for the part after reading the script.

She was cast to play Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When she began her work on that series, Dushku was still a minor. She had to receive emancipation to work the production's long hours.

She later recalled with amusement that the judge who handled her emancipation case was an avid fan of that show. She joked that she would sign the emancipation order if she could get a signed photo from Dushku.

She is an American actress and model known for her television roles. She starred as Faith on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff series Angel. She starred in two Fox series, Tru Calling and Dollhouse. She is also known for her roles in films including True Lies, The New Guy, Bring It On, Wrong Turn and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Osaka, Japan

Osaka means "large hill." The city's west side is open to Osaka Bay. The area is surrounded by ten satellite cities otherwise. The city used to be known as Naniwa.

Winters are mild in temperature (avg. high 49 F/9.3 C). It rarely snows. Spring starts off mild, but ends up being hot and humid. The rainy season happens between early June and late July.

Summers are very hot and humid. August is the hottest month (avg. high 92 F/ 33.5 C). Temperatures cool in Autumn. The second rainy season is from September to early October. Tropical weather systems including typhoons are possible from the south or southwest.

Central Osaka is roughly divided into downtown and uptown areas known as Kita (北, "north") and Minami (南, "south").

Kita is home to the Umeda district and its immediate surrounding neighborhoods. It is a major business and retail hub that plays host to Osaka Station City and a large subterranean network of shopping arcades.

Kita and nearby Nakanoshima contain a prominent portion of the city's skyscrapers. The high rise buildings are often featured in photographs of Osaka's skyline.

Minami is essentially in Chuo Ward (中央区 Chūō-ku). Chuo means "central." It is geographically central within the city. Well known districts here include shopping areas, the canal entertainment area and Nipponbashi Den Den Town. There are arts and fashion culture-oriented areas such as Amerikamura and Horie as well.

The business districts between Kita and Minami are called Semba (船場). They house the regional headquarters of many large-scale banks and corporations. The Midosuji boulevard runs through Semba and connects Kita and Minami.

Further south of Minami are neighborhoods with the Tsutenkaku tower, the Tennoji Zoo and the Kamagasaki slum, the largest slum in Japan.

The city's west side is a prominent bay area which serves as its main port as well as a tourist destination with attractions such as Kyocera Dome, Universal Studios Japan and the Tempozan Harbour Village.

East Osaka is zoned as a separate city. The east side of the city proper contains numerous residential neighborhoods including Tsuruhashi Korea Town, the Castle Park, the Business Park and the hub Kyobashi Station.

The city contains numerous urban canals and bridges. The phrase "808 bridges of Naniwa" was an expression in old Japan. It was used to indicate impressiveness and the "uncountable." There were roughly 200 bridges by the Edo period and 1629 bridges by 1925.

Many of the city's canals were gradually filled up. The number dropped to 872 of which 760 are currently managed by Osaka City.

The Osaka Castle was built in 1583 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The settlement grew into one of Japan's major cities over the course of the Edo period (1603–1867) and returned to its ancient role as a lively and important port. A vibrant arts culture typified by Kabuki and Banruki theaters was cultivated by 1780.

The Umeda Sky Building was completed in 1993.
